They’re among the pictures of the year: A suddenly bald George H.W. Bush holding a 2-year-old in one photo, and posing with equally bald Secret Service agents in another.
The 41st president’s decision to shave his head in solidarity with the the 2-year-old leukemia patient is winning praise throughout the land, including members of the presidential club,
“41, you look great,” tweeted former president Bill Clinton. “Love what you’re doing.”
The child, identified as Patrick, is the son of a member of Bush’s security detail.
President Obama’s White House tweeted out the photo of Bush and the boy, urging supporters to retweet it “to show your support Patrick.”
We’re waiting on reaction from another president, son George W. Bush.
Leukemia has special resonance in the Bush family; George senior and wife Barbara lost their infant daughter Robin to the disease in 1953.
