Piggy’s Eye Update

One Murphy and Jodi’s dogs, Piggy, had an unfortunate incident recently. The vet told them her eye had to be removed. Below is a picture of Piggy today. Although it is unfortunate that she had to have this surgery, we are happy to say she is doing well recovering. Now she looks like she is always winking at us 😉

Things Parents Do That Drive Teachers Crazy

Every parent wants to make a good impression on their children’s teachers, but ask any teacher what the hardest part of their job is, and there’s a good chance they will say: parents. So, how do you avoid being THAT parent? Here, teachers from preschool through high school tell us 9 things parents do that drive teachers crazy:

1. Give them yet another coffee mug as a back-to-school gift.
2. Ignore information from the school, and then complain that you don’t know what’s going on.
3. Refuse to put your cell phone away during drop-off and pick-up.
4. Send your child to school with supplies that weren’t on the list.
5. Blame other kids when your child does something wrong.
6. Assume that we don’t like your child because they got a bad grade.
7. Refuse to let your child take ownership for their actions.
8. Ignore our recommendations and push your child too hard.
9. Refuse to put aside your differences for the benefit of your child.

Jodi’s Friday Favorite

FSU’s Travis Rudolph made an incredible gesture to a boy with autism
Rudolph and some other Seminoles were visiting a middle school Tuesday afternoon when Rudolph noticed a boy eating his lunch alone. Rudolph decided he would give the boy company and join him for lunch with a couple slices of pizza. The boy’s mother, Leah Paske, found out about the gesture, and was incredibly moved.
Paske wrote a lengthy Facebook post describing the encounter, which she said brought her to tears:
