– Let 1 person handle booking and schedules etc. That way if you have a question or you lose something, you know exactly WHO can help you. Choose the most organized of your family members.

– Pick a place/destination that will have something for everyone.

– DO NOT over schedule or force anyone to keep to a strict schedule. And since it IS a family vacation, have 1 appointment every day together. Breakfast or dinner works well for this.

– Make sure everyone has everyone else’s cell phone numbers etc.

– Plan who will cook and when. Make a schedule. One person should not be stuck shopping or cooking the entire time.

– Be patient and mindful of late sleepers and nappers.

– If you have young children, be okay with them coming off of their schedule a little. They will be off, it’s a different routine.

– Think twice before complaining about another family member. You won’t be able to take it back, and you still have to get home :o)

– Bring games. Play games. This is the BEST kind of family fun, and it’s not done nearly enough.
