How to make a brownie in a mug Jul 30, 2012 | Heard it on the Show? | 18 comments 18 Comments Jack Holliday on October 19, 2012 at 7:51 pm Tastes horrid! It has the consistency of toffee and tastes nothing like brownie, but instead a sicky-sweet chocolate. I would not recommend it to anyone…unless I wanted to induce vomitting…lol! Reply Pedro Magalhães on October 24, 2012 at 6:36 am It is not that bad, much unlike what Jack said. Try experimenting and change the water for milk. this will give you a much rich cupcake. Also, it will be a “sticky-sweet” cupcake if it is not done properly. If you think it is bad, just shove it in the microwave and do another 1:40 🙂 Reply Levanin on October 25, 2012 at 12:31 pm Mine turned out great. Not at all toffee-ish or muffin-ish. The best part is that it’s non dairy. Reply Darla on October 25, 2012 at 7:31 pm You have to let it dry because my bros turned out watery and ice creamy. EWWWW!!!! Freakin gross! But mine turned out terrific! Reply Sophie on November 15, 2012 at 11:27 am I really liked it, but i used butter instead of oil. And that tasted much better Reply taylor haskell on December 11, 2012 at 6:09 pm mine was delicious. i made 3 and ate them all. i think i may make another Reply skippy on December 28, 2012 at 4:01 pm I tried this about a month ago and it has become a staple dessert item in my house. Now my kids make them when friends come over and I ended up printing out copies to give people. (At the very least, I KNOW what is in this as opposed to store bought singles.) Couple of tips. Mix the dry ingredients well before adding any liquids and make sure you mix it really well! Make sure the mug is the type that does not heat up as that will absorb a lot of the energy and undercook the brownie. The brownie flavor is semi-sweet, so you MUST eat it with ice cream, preferably french vanilla. Reply Anthony on January 26, 2013 at 8:18 pm It did not work for me… It just turned out all watery… Reply Gavi on February 16, 2013 at 7:27 pm not to bad, it’s the best “in a cup” I’ve tried. Next time I’ll use coffee instead of water. Reply Michelle on March 6, 2013 at 8:11 pm I don’t know what you people are talking about. Mine was absolutely delicious. I’ve made it more than once. Sometimes I use hot cocoa instead of cocoa powder, and that makes it super sweet. If you’re going to do that, make sure you’re going to split it with someone. 🙂 Reply ceejay on March 12, 2013 at 12:51 pm Tasted like olive oil.. change it:( Reply Emma on March 15, 2013 at 1:58 pm You have to give it a couple of tries. I’ve been making them everyday when I come home from school. Practice makes perfect! Substitute milk for water and coco powder for hot chocolate Reply Saahil on March 20, 2013 at 5:26 am I used Green&Blacks cocoa, vegetable oil (no olive oil in my house annoyingly) and added Cadburies chocolate chips. Turned out amazing!! Reply Craire on April 29, 2013 at 8:48 pm In the interest of not making more dirty dishes than necessary 1/4 cup = 4Tbs. I cut back the sugar to 3 Tbs and used canola oil because I think olive oil would be gross in this dish. It worked for me but the mix was not watery like the picture it was quite thick. I used very dark cocoa which I think helped. In future probably 1 minute in the microwave would suffice. Reply Shalimay on June 20, 2013 at 5:45 am I used self raising flour and microwaved for 2 minutes with a few breaks so it didn’t explode. It tastes great and I even used olive oil. Reply Evani on January 5, 2014 at 5:31 am Mine turned out amazing!! However, I substituted the olive oil for canola oil. Not much of a fan of using olive oil when cooking/baking, its much better for salad dressings. Reply Eliza on April 21, 2014 at 3:13 am Don’t use olive oil, especially extra virgin. You will taste it. I found Canola gave it a much more subtle taste that didn’t overpower the chocolate. Also if it keeps turning out dry, you can add a little extra liquid. I’d still prefer an oven baked chocolate pudding, though this is okay if you want an instant dessert. Reply Mona on July 9, 2014 at 1:07 am Just made it and it turns out AWESOME…..don’t need any icecream with it. I just tweaked the recipe a bit….used milk instead if water and added some chocochips too. Reply Submit a Comment Cancel replyYour email address will not be published.
