3 – You’ve Got Mail
Starring Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan
- Murphy LOVES to roll his eyes every time I put this on. I just adore the story. It is lovely and complicated. AND I introduced our girls to it last year – they loved it too!! Sweet and fun.
2 – Walk the Line
Starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon.
- What a ride!! This love story is so raw (to me) and it IS of course a true story!! Reese won an Academy Award for it, and Joaquin should have. If you’ve never seen it, treat yourself!
1 – Pride and Prejudice
Starring Keira Knightley
- This one cannot be topped for me!! It is BEAUTIFULLY done, and I’ve watched it over and over. SO GOOD! Every character and scene are perfect. Donald Sutherland is also in this movie, and Dame Judi Dench is the icing on the cake. My favorite!!!
HONORABLE mentions I love:
P.S. I Love You (Hillary Swank, Gerard Butler)
WOWZA!!!! Love the story, it’s not an easy one though. Bonus: Harry Connick Jr. has a good role here too.
When a Man Loves a Woman (Meg Ryan, Andy Garcia)
This is heavy too, but GREAT. About a married couple barely making it b/c of an alcohol addiction.
Made of Honor (Patrick Dempsey, Michelle Monaghan)
SO funny and lovely! This movie has the best of fun, romantic and serious love stuff!

Try The Decoy Bride sometime (it’s available on Netflix). It’s a sweet little British rom-com that makes me laugh and always brings out the happy tears at the end. 😀
While You Were Sleeping with Sandra Bullock.
So funny and sweet. For the whole family.
The girls in my family can quote every line.
That’s awesome! Great pick.
I love the 1995 British tv version of Pride and Prejudice (Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle) AND Bridget Jones’s Diary, which was inspired by it and also has Colin Firth playing Mr. Darcy! Also Before Sunrise and its sequel, Before Sunset (love Julie Delpy’s French accent!)
I’m sorry, but my all time favorite movie is Titanic.
2nd is Up Close and Personal
Those are both great picks Sue.
Giving it some deep thought, I believe I would have to say that my three favorite Love Story Movies would have to be Walk the Line, The American President and Ghost with Ghost being a love story on a totally different level.
Yes. How could we forget about Ghost. Classic!
My 3 favorite are
1/the notebook
2/titanic
3/ ghost
Dangerous Beauty (1998)
Sense and Sensibility (1995)
What Dreams May Come (1998)
