Family Friendly Food and Drinks!

Kool-Aid Cake
1 box cake mix of your choice
1 box powdered sugar
1 pack kool-aid, your choice
1 carton or can of milk

Make the cake according to directions on the box.  Mix half a box of powdered sugar and about half a pack of Kool-Aid.  You can mix the whole pack of Kool-Aid to fit your taste.  Mix well.  Stir in the milk a little at a time to get the thickness you desire.  After cake cools before putting on the icing put a few holes in the cake so as to let some of the icing soak in the cake.

Hot Dog Roll-Ups
4 (6-inch) flour tortillas
4 hot dogs
cheese (american, cheddar…whatever you like!)
extras: Jalapenos, onions, tomatoes…

Cook hot dogs (microwave or on stove).  Put cheese on tortilla (along with any other extras) and put cooked hot dog on tortilla and roll up! Put all hot dog roll-ups in microwave for 10-15 secs to fully melt cheese, hot dog and extras to each other.  Remove from microwave.  You can dip these in ketchup, mustard, sour cream or salsa!

Hawaiian Hot Dog Surprise
2 (16 ounce) packages hot dogs, cut into pieces
2 (8 ounce) cans pineapple chunks, undrained
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
2 (16 ounce) cans baked beans

Place hot dog pieces, pineapple, brown sugar, white sugar and baked beans into a slow cooker.  Cook on high for 15 minutes, turn down to low and let simmer for another 15 minutes, or until ready to serve.  This dish can be kept on low all day.

Lemonade Cake
1 (18.25 ounce) package lemon cake mix
1 (3 ounce) package instant lemon pudding mix
4 eggs
3/4 cup vegetable oil
3/4 cup water
1 (6 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate, thawed
1/2 cup white sugar

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 10 inch tube pan. Combine the cake mix, lemon pudding mix, eggs, vegetable oil and the cold water. Mix until smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 1 hour. Remove from oven and prick cake all over with a fork. Immediately pour lemonade glaze over top of cake. Let cake stand in pan until cool.

To Make Lemonade Glaze: Combine the thawed frozen lemonade and the white sugar. Mix thoroughly and pour over still warm cake.

Strawberry Lemonade Ice Pops
1 (12 ounce) can frozen lemonade concentrate
3 cups cold water
1 (16 ounce) package frozen sliced strawberries

In a large pitcher, stir together the lemonade concentrate and water. Place strawberries into the container of a blender, and puree until smooth. Pour in some of the lemonade if necessary to facilitate blending. Stir strawberry puree into the lemonade. Pour into molds, and freeze until firm, about 4 hours.

Homemade Ice Cream
4 eggs
2 cans condensed milk
1 C sugar
1 1/2 qts. Milk
2 tablespoons vanilla
1/2 pt. whipping cream

Mix all ingredients well except the milk.  Pour into freezer can. Add milk to fill line and stir.  If you want to make flavored ice cream, add 1 cup of finely chopped fruit or nuts per quart of ice cream.  Freeze and EAT!

Old-Fashioned Lemonade
6-8 lemons (depending on how tart you like it!)
1 cup white sugar (or more if you like is sweeter…)
6 cups cold water

Juice the lemons to make 1 cup of juice (or more if you like…). To make your labor easier, FIRMLY roll the lemons between your hand and counter top before cutting in half and juicing. In a gallon pitcher combine lemon juice, 1 cup sugar (or more if you like…), and 6 cups cold water. Stir. Adjust water to taste. Chill and serve over ice.
Also – you can boil some of the water and sugar together to help the sugar dissolve.

1/2 teaspoon confectioners’ sugar
1/2 lime, juiced
1 sprig fresh mint, crushed
1/2 cup crushed ice
2 fluid ounces white rum
4 fluid ounces carbonated water
1 sprig fresh mint, garnish

In a highball glass, stir together the confectioners’ sugar and lime juice. Bruise the mint leaves and drop into glass. Fill glass with crushed ice and pour in rum. Pour in carbonated water to fill the glass. Garnish with a sprig of mint.
Also – to make this kid-friendly just take out the rum!

Strawberry Daiquiri
6 cups ice
1/2 cup white sugar
4 ounces frozen strawberries
1/8 cup lime juice
1/2 cup lemon juice
3/4 cup rum
1/4 cup lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage

In a blender, combine ice, sugar and strawberries. Pour in lime juice, lemon juice, rum and lemon-lime soda. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.
Also – to make this kid-friendly just take out the rum!
